How Tall Should Your Lifeguard Chair Be?
A lifeguard chair only works if the guard can see the bottom of the pool across their entire zone. Height, placement, and glare control matter more than any other feature on the spec sheet.
Seat height is driven by your pool: water depth, surface glare, deck obstructions, and how far the guard's zone extends. Taller stands extend sightlines across wide or deep pools; lower portable stands work well for shallow instructional pools and for facilities that move coverage seasonally. If you're unsure, tell us your pool dimensions and where the chair will sit and we'll suggest a height range.
Then choose the frame and options. Permanent anchored stands are the most stable and typically the longest lived. Portable and wheeled stands let you reposition coverage. Umbrellas and shade canopies reduce glare and heat fatigue, and integrated storage keeps rescue tubes and first aid within reach.
